I was just 9 years old when i first fell in love with Yamaha. My Dad brought an RD350 and that changed my life into a speed loving biker. On my 15th birthday, my Mum presented me a Yamaha RD350 which was way ahead of its time in India then. The RD was powered by a two stroke, twin cylinder 350 cc engine which boasted a maximum power of 39.5 bhp and could do 0-100 kmph in just 9 seconds. Its top speed is around 180 kmph in better roads down in south India. The road in N
agaland could only allow me a top speed of 125 kmph, which was very dangerous considering the road condition. Many bikes from other companies had turned up in the market but the RD is ,without doubt, the only true performance oriented bike in India till now. Higher engine capacity like the BMW F650 even could not match the RD in terms of pick-up, performance and sound. Yamaha India should introduce the R6 or R1 in India to meet the needs of performance oriented bikers in India.
